Green June Campaign in Brazil
On June 7th, the Senate approved the creation of the Green June campaign to raise environmental awareness among the population. The project now awaits presidential approval.
The month was chosen because World Environment Day is celebrated on June 5th.
The themes to be addressed during the month are:
- The state of environmental conservation and means to act in its protection.
- Conscious consumption, reuse, and recycling of solid waste.
- Promotion of environmental innovation through educational projects.
Ecopoints in São Paulo
The Ecopoint is a project of the City of São Paulo that, to combat irregular disposal, provides units to receive waste, whether recyclable or not. All operate from Monday to Saturday, from 6 am to 10 pm, and on Sundays and holidays, from 6 am to 6 pm.
Recicla Sampa
Attention: not all materials can be disposed of in Ecopoints, such as cooking oil, light bulbs, X-rays, medicines, etc. There are collection points for these materials partnered with the Recicla Sampa project.
To check the points, simply visit the website reciclasampa.com.br.
Applications
As an option for waste disposal in the city, some apps offer greater convenience and even rewards, such as cashback and product points. Check out some of them:
- Molécoola (Android and iOS): just sign up and take clean and separated recyclables to the nearest recycling station. Each discarded material has a specific score that can be exchanged for products, services, and discounts.
- Telite (Android): users can use the points earned to exchange for money. In the app, it is possible to schedule the collection of waste.
- Cataki (Android and iOS): connects waste generators with waste pickers, who will properly dispose of the collected material.
